The Oshkosh Heavy Tactical Armored Bridge Layer (AVLB / Mobile Bridge Platform) supports rapid bridge deployment, retrieval and mobility operations. It combines a heavy-duty tactical chassis with hydraulic launching equipment and a Military Load Class (MLC) bridge span.
Features
- Oshkosh High-Mobility Heavy Chassis: Uses a heavy-duty, all-wheel-drive tactical chassis, such as the HEMTT 8×8 or LVSR series, designed to carry the substantial deadweight and shifting torque of a folding scissors or telescopic bridge.
- Rapid-Deployment Hydraulic Launching System: The heavy-duty front/rear hydraulic launching boom and winch mechanism mechanically extends, unfolds and places the armored bridge span without crew members leaving the protected cab.
- Scissor/Telescopic MLC Bridge Span: Transports a Military Load Class (MLC) heavy alloy bridge for crossing wide trenches, anti-tank ditches, small rivers and collapsed road sections with heavy armor and logistics vehicles.
- Front Anchoring & Counterweight Outriggers: Front-mounted hydraulic spade anchors and stabilizer legs press into the ground, counterbalancing the bridge’s cantilever weight during deployment and retrieval.
- Gap Crossing & Mobility Support: Intended for quickly bridging natural and man-made obstacles, such as rivers, ravines, destroyed bridges and anti-tank trenches, so armored and motorized columns can keep moving.
- Under-Fire Engineering Operations: Forward combat engineers can lay a crossable bridge in minutes while protected by armor, allowing assault forces to bypass choke points.
- Retrieval & Reusability: After the military column has crossed, the vehicle attaches to either end of the bridge, folds it back onto the chassis and continues forward with the advance.
- Complex Hydraulic Kinematics: Includes detailed multi-stage launching animations for boom elevation, bridge unfolding and extension, and anchoring spade deployment.
- Dynamic Ground Physics & Bridging Functionality: Functions as a simulation asset that changes otherwise impassable terrain gaps into navigable roads for all other vehicles in your mod collection.
