FS25 Independent track system V1.0.0.0
Independent Track System gives compatible tracked machines separate controls for the left and right tracks. Drive forward in a straight line by moving both tracks together, make gradual turns with one track, or rotate them in opposite directions for a tight pivot.
This mod works as a standalone script. Editing individual vehicle files is not required.
Features
- Separate inputs for the left and right tracks.
- Move the two tracks in the same direction to travel straight.
- Use one moving track to turn, or drive the tracks in opposite directions to pivot.
- When isolation is On, the independent track inputs replace the usual forward, reverse, and steering controls.
- Choose Off to use the machine’s normal driving controls again.
Getting started
- 1. Put
FS25_IndependentTrackSystem.zipinto your FS25 Mods folder and keep the file zipped. - 2. Activate the mod while loading your save.
- 3. Purchase or customize a compatible machine and set Isolated Tracks: On. On is the default setting.
- 4. Enter the machine, start its engine, and operate it with the independent track controls.
Default keyboard controls
The numeric keypad is used for these controls:
| Action | Default key |
|---|---|
| Left track forward | Numpad 7 |
| Left track reverse | Numpad 1 |
| Right track forward | Numpad 9 |
| Right track reverse | Numpad 3 |
Custom controls
Go to Settings → Controls, then find the left and right track actions for Independent Track System.
These actions can use custom keyboard bindings as well as analog inputs from game controllers and joysticks recognized by FS25. No controller or joystick defaults are provided, so assign the buttons or axes you prefer.
Tune each machine
When you are operating the machine, open the Independent Track System settings tab directly after Devices.
You can select Balanced, Precision Excavation, Field Travel, or Soft Ground as a preset. Individual settings can also be changed:
- Braking strength: Sets how strongly moving tracks brake.
- Holding brake: Sets how strongly a stationary track resists rolling.
- Acceleration response: Controls how quickly the tracks react to your inputs.
- Pivot speed: Sets the target speed during counter-rotation.
- Traction: Controls how strongly the tracks resist sideways sliding.
Each machine keeps its own tuning, which is restored after the save is reloaded. Actual movement varies with the machine, terrain, grip, and load.
Compatibility and testing
The system is designed for compatible fully tracked machines that use FS25’s standard wheel and crawler systems. Compatibility is determined by the vehicle’s construction. Some custom controllers, animations, articulated machines, and mixed wheel-and-track layouts may need additional support.
In-game testing has covered gameplay and the persistence of settings. Testing with controllers, joysticks, and multiplayer is still in progress. In multiplayer, the server and every player need the same version installed.
