FS25 Fence Distance Hotfix V0.0.1
After FS25 patch 1.25 changed how the distance between fence posts is validated, this mod allows husbandry mods to be placed again. While you place a pasture, short fence segments built into it can pass the placement check.
Patch 1.25 introduced a minimum fence segment length based on the shortest panel belonging to that fence. When a pasture includes a built-in fence, every built-in segment is checked during placement. If even one of them is below the minimum, the pasture cannot be placed anywhere. The cursor displays “Distance too short”, but the log remains empty.
This temporary fix gives husbandry mod authors time to update their mods for patch 1.25 without pressure. It will be retired in a while, after authors have had time to make their updates. You will not need this mod once the husbandry mods you use have been updated.
Features
- Pastures can be placed again, including pastures with a short segment in their built-in fence, as they could before patch 1.25
- It should work with every pasture, requires no settings, and makes no changes to the husbandry mod
- Short segments appear as they did before 1.25, with no fence panel on a segment that is too short for one panel
- The new rule remains active for your own fences. Fences drawn with the fence tool, including the customizable side of a pasture, still require the 1.25 minimum length
- Nothing is saved by this mod. It writes no savegame data, and pastures placed while it is active continue to load after the mod is removed
- Singleplayer only, this version does not support multiplayer
Limitations
- A short built-in segment has no fence panel, leaving a gap in a visible fence, just as it did before patch 1.25. The husbandry mod itself must be updated to put a panel on that segment.
- Multiplayer is not supported yet
Usage
Enable the mod for your savegame and place the pasture in the usual way. No configuration is required.
Only the fence length check used while placing a pasture is changed by this mod. All other placement checks continue to apply, including owned land, collisions with other objects, and the checks belonging to the fence tool.
