Through most of your late teens and early 20’s, you worked on a farm while helping your friend after the sad passing of his dad. Nearly a decade ago, you left that life behind for the city, but memories of those days still return often. You wonder how your friend is doing and whether he managed to obtain the extra land he had hoped for. One evening, while speaking with your children, you realise that they do not know where things come from. Since the schools are not prepared to teach them simple facts such as where food comes from, you decide to take responsibility for teaching them yourself.
When you reach the place that was your home throughout childhood and into your mid 20’s, the size of the land and the memories connected to it take you by surprise. The countryside smells of freshly cut grass, and the clean air is a welcome change from the smog you had breathed in during all those years in the city. With excitement building, you follow the dirt road to your friend’s farm. You are home again, back in Glenleathann.
