- Heavy Armored Tracked Chassis (AT-T / Article 426 Platform): This heavy-duty, fully tracked armored chassis is derived from T-54 tank components and delivers superior off-road mobility and cross-country performance across soft mud, snow, and rough terrain.
- Large UHF/VHF Parabolic Antenna Array: A massive foldable parabolic mesh dish is mounted on the hull roof and rotates through 360 degrees for early warning air-surveillance and target tracking.
- Integrated Generator & Power Plant: An internal heavy gas-turbine or high-output diesel auxiliary power unit (APU) provides the immense electrical power required for long-range radar pulses and signal processing.
- Folding Mechanical Structure: Complex hydraulic/mechanical linkages fold the large parabolic dish flat against the top hull deck during transport, reducing the vehicle profile and clearing overhead obstacles.
- Early Warning & Air Defense Surveillance: The vehicle detects high- and medium-altitude air targets and supplies real-time target identification, range, and azimuth data to surface-to-air missile (SAM) batteries, such as S-75, S-125, and 2K12 Kub systems.
- Tracked Air Defense Mobility: Compared with wheeled radar platforms, the tracked chassis lets the P-40 cross extreme off-road terrain directly alongside armored divisions and mobile tactical surface-to-air missile launchers.
- Early Acquisition Node: Within integrated air defense networks, it acts as the primary long-range search radar, queuing precision fire-control radars onto incoming targets well before they enter engagement envelopes.
- Intricate Folding Kinematics & Animations: The radar mesh dish and its supporting boom arm use complex mechanical folding and unfolding sequences.
- Rotational & Tracked Physics Modeling: Heavy tracked vehicle ground physics are combined with continuous 360-degree radar antenna rotation animations.
